With their roots planted firmly in Newton Abbot, in November 2014 LMS Highways spread their operation from west to east, acquiring a new depot in Harlow, Essex.
The necessity for this significant expansion came as a result of a number of large highways maintenance projects in and around London. LMS Highways secured major joint and crack repair work on the M25 working for Connect Plus, Skanska, Osborne and Balfour Beatty- but in particular the SBBJV widening schemes between J5-7 and J22-24. The works could not be run permanently from the head office in Devon, and so the Harlow project was launched.

With its ease of access to the M25, Harlow was the perfect spot for a second base. The location means LMS Highways have the ideal location to support work for growing regional local authority contracts in the south east of England. The depot provides dedicated, regional operational and support staff that understand local client requirements allowing LMS to provide a higher level of personal service.
With premises secured, Bryan Cook was recruited as Depot Manager in Harlow. With over 20 years highways maintenance experience Bryan came highly recommended. After a stringent interview process involving a shortlist of high quality candidates- Bryan was handed the reigns.
We spoke to Bryan and asked him how the first 12 months in Harlow had gone. He told us:
It's been really good. By providing a quality service with highly trained operatives we've formed strong relationships on the M25 and secured long term commitments to collaborative working.
"There's no doubt in my mind that being available locally to our clients has been the key factor in cementing these relationships."
The Harlow depot, along with a growing presence in the North West based in Manchester and the head office in Devon enables LMS Highways to offer a truly national range of services offering a premium brand of specialist highways maintenance.

LMS Highways Director Paul Winter discussed plans for LMS Highways moving forward:
"We would like to offer our customers the full range of our services equally across all depots, so that nationally we are as efficient and effective as we can possibly be. This will involve further training for existing staff, and recruitment of further expertise in all depots, something that we are already 100% committed to investing in."
